Star Paint

Star Paint is located at 6-9-6 on Umarani Road in Chadchan. We have been here for a good number of years now. If you walk inside, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of paint and thinners, which I don't even notice anymore because I’m here so much. The floors are covered in little drops of different colors from all the times we’ve mixed tins for customers. We have rows of shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, and sometimes I have to use a shaky old ladder to reach the stuff at the top. Umarani Road can get pretty dusty, so I spend a lot of time wiping down the cans so people can see the labels properly. It’s a hands-on job and my clothes usually have some kind of stain on them by the end of the day. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and carpets. It’s just a practical workspace where we get things done. The neighbors around Chadchan are mostly other small business owners, so we all know each other and sometimes share a tea in the evening. It’s a lot of work carrying heavy buckets around, and my hands are usually pretty rough from the chemicals and the labor. We just keep the doors open and help whoever comes through with whatever they need for their house or their projects.
