Emounu Agency

Emounu Agency is located right in the middle of Imphal Bazar. If you’ve ever been to the bazar, you know it’s a whirlwind of people, carts, and noise. Our place is tucked between a few other shops, and it can be easy to miss if you aren't looking closely. We have a lot of boxes coming in and out every day. The space inside is mostly taken up by stock, leaving just enough room for a small desk where we handle the paperwork. It gets quite humid here, so we keep the fans going at full speed most of the time. We’ve been part of this market for years. You get to know the other shopkeepers and the people who come by every week. There is no air conditioning, just the open door and the breeze when we’re lucky. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen better days. We do a lot of writing in ledgers because we still like keeping track of things on paper. It feels more real that way. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we just light a few candles and keep going. It’s a busy life in the bazar, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It’s a simple agency in a very busy place.
