Urep Uyung Design and Construction Private Limited is based right in the heart of Imphal at the Palace Compound. We are at S Iboton Singh’s place, which is near the IED1 and CSD1 offices. The Palace Compound is a special area with a lot of history, so we feel lucky to be working out of here. Our name might sound a bit formal, but we are actually a very down-to-earth group. We do both the designing and the actual building, which keeps us pretty busy most days. Sometimes we are sitting at the table drawing out how a room should look, and the next hour we are out at a site checking on the foundation. It’s a mix of office work and getting our boots dirty. The 795001 area is usually buzzing with people, so there’s never a quiet moment. We’ve got a small crew that handles the masonry, plumbing, and all the little details. We don't have a flashy showroom. Most of our clients just come by the house and we talk over some tea. We try to be realistic about what can be done with the budget and the space available. Materials can be hard to get sometimes, and prices change, so we just try to keep our clients updated on what's happening. We aren't looking to change the world; we just want to build good, sturdy structures for the people around here.
