Placemaking Foundation

We are based at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai in the Singjamei area of Imphal. Our specific location is on plot number 231/241. It’s a modest spot, not something you’d find in a business park. We started this foundation because we wanted to do something about the spaces we live in. The office is just a workspace filled with tools, old maps, and a few desks. It’s a bit messy because we are always in the middle of some project or another. We don’t have a big staff or a polished way of doing things. It is mostly just us, a few neighbors who decided to put our heads together. We spend our time looking at local spots and figuring out how to make them better for everyone. Sometimes that means cleaning up a corner or building something small. We don't have a lot of funding, so we have to use whatever materials we can get our hands on. It’s a lot of physical work and sometimes it’s frustrating when things don’t go as planned. We are just local residents who care about Singjamei. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just get out there and try to change things one bit at a time. It’s honest work, even if it’s slow and sometimes a bit disorganized. We just keep at it.
