Mis Brick Field

Our place is called Mis Brick Field and you can find us near the main road by the Khoyathong post office. It’s a convenient spot because the trucks don't have to go through any narrow village lanes to reach us. Being near the main road means we see a lot of traffic and people stopping by out of curiosity. The work here is pretty dirty, to be honest. There’s always dust in the air and the smell of the kiln when it's burning. We don’t have a fancy office building, just a small shed where we keep the papers and some chairs. Most of the time we are outside anyway, checking the rows of bricks or talking to the drivers. The weather in this district can be unpredictable, so we’re always on our toes. If a storm comes suddenly, we all have to run out and cover the unbaked bricks with whatever we have. It’s tiring, but that’s the life of a brick field worker. We’ve been at this location for a while now. We know the neighbors and the local tea stall owners well. We don’t spend money on big ads. Our name is just painted on a board near the entrance. We focus on getting the bricks out to the people who need them for their buildings. It’s a simple life, focused on the basics of earth and heat. We just try to make it through each month.
