Central Institute Of Plastic Engineering & Technology

This facility is located out in the Industrial Estate at Takyelpatimphal West. Most people just call it CIPET instead of using the full long name. It’s a big space where we spend most of our days working with different types of plastics and machinery. It’s not really a shop, more of a place where learning and actual production happen at the same time. The air usually smells a bit like heated polymers, which you get used to after a week or so. We have students coming in and out, and there’s always some machine being serviced or a new mold being tested. The area around here is quite busy with other industrial units, so there is always noise from trucks and loaders. We've been here for a good while, helping people understand how the industry works. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but once you get here, there’s plenty of equipment to see. We try to keep things organized, but with so many projects going on at once, the workshops can get a bit messy. It’s an honest place where people actually get their hands dirty. You won't find many people wearing suits here; it's mostly work clothes and safety gear. There's a small canteen nearby where we usually grab a quick lunch before heading back to the lab. The equipment is heavy and takes a lot of maintenance, so there is always someone tinkering with a machine to keep it running right.
