Leishiphung Christian Hospital

We are based up in Phungrei, Ukhrul, at Leishiphung Christian Hospital. It’s a bit of a different world up here in the hills compared to what you see in the big cities. We’ve been serving the local community in Ukhrul for many years now. The hospital is a modest building, and we do what we can with the resources we have available. It’s a Christian-run place, so that’s the foundation of how we operate day to day. We see people coming in from all the surrounding villages, often traveling quite a long way to get medical help. The roads in this part of the country aren't always the best, so we know it’s an effort for people to reach us. It’s a quiet environment mostly, with a lot of fresh air around Phungrei. We have wards where patients can stay while they recover. Our staff are mostly local folks who understand the needs of the people here. We don't have high-tech gadgets or fancy lobby areas. It’s just a simple, practical hospital where we focus on the health of our neighbors. Running a place like this in a remote area has its challenges, like getting supplies delivered, but we just keep going. We handle the usual medical stuff and try to make sure everyone who comes through our doors gets looked after. It’s just how things are done here in Ukhrul. We’ve been part of this landscape for a long time. The rain can be heavy, but the work never stops.
