Khoira Foundation

Our foundation, Khoira Foundation, is based in Imphal East. We work out of the home of Y Devson Singh in Laipham Khunou. It’s a quiet residential area in Manipur with the zip code 795010. We don’t have a separate office building, so we just use the space we have available to us. It’s a very personal way to run things. Most people in the neighborhood know Devson and know that we are here doing our work. We deal with whatever comes our way, mostly focusing on things that help the local people. The setup is very modest. We have a table where we keep our laptops and some chairs for visitors. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll see people in suits. We usually just wear whatever is comfortable for the weather. Imphal East is a nice place to be, and we feel like we are right where we belong. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow, so we end up doing things the old-fashioned way with pen and paper. We don’t have a big mission statement or anything like that. We just see what needs doing and we try to do it. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up over time. We like the fact that our neighbors can just walk over if they need something. It keeps us grounded and reminds us why we started this in the first place.
