Tata Gh General Hospital

We’ve been here in Munnar Central for quite a while now. The air is always a bit cooler up here than down in the plains, which is nice for the patients. People mostly come in when they have to, usually after walking quite a way from their homes in the hills. We keep things simple at Tata Gh General Hospital. The building isn't fancy or anything, but it stays standing through the heavy monsoon rains we get every year. Most of us living here know each other by face if not by name. It’s quiet in the mornings before the first buses arrive, and that's when we get the paperwork sorted out. Sometimes the tea garden workers stop by just to ask something quick. We don’t have those flashy machines you see in the big city hospitals, but we manage with what we have. My desk is near the front window so I see everyone coming up the road. It gets a bit hectic around noon when the sun is out. We try to keep the floors clean even with all the mud people track in during the rainy months. It's just a regular part of life here. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk about the weather or the local crops while waiting for the next person to walk through the doors. We just do our bit and try to stay helpful for the folks living in these hills.
