About St. Johns Hospital – Medical & Healthcare in Idukki
Up here in Kattappana South, St. Johns Hospital is a familiar sight for everyone. The air is a bit different here, and we get a lot of people coming in from the nearby hills. It’s a practical kind of place. We don’t have any fancy elevators or high-tech kiosks. You just walk in, talk to the person at the desk, and wait your turn. The staff here is used to the local pace of life. We take our time with people because that’s how they like it, though we still keep an eye on the clock. The hospital building has a few cracks here and there, and the paint is peeling in the corners, but it doesn’t stop us from doing what we need to do. We spend a lot of time cleaning and organizing the medicine rooms. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving equipment and helping patients get around. We don't have any corporate slogans on the walls. Most of the time, the only things on the walls are old calendars and some health posters. Working in Kattappana South means you know your patients’ families and their history. It makes the work feel more personal. We just show up, put on our uniforms, and do our best to help whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple life, and it’s a simple hospital. We aren't trying to impress anyone; we’re just here to work and take care of what comes our way.
