Mr Lockal Store

Mr Lockal Store is situated at number 24 on the Kodaikkanal Road in Vannappuram. This road is usually quite busy with people traveling up toward the hill station or coming down into the plains. Because of our location, we see a mix of local residents from Vannappuram and travelers who are just passing through and need to grab something quickly. The store is a simple building with enough space to hold all the essentials like bottled water, snacks, cigarettes, and basic grocery items. We have a small porch area where people sometimes stand to get out of the sun for a minute. The interior is organized with wooden shelves that we built ourselves to fit the odd shape of the walls. It isn't a huge place, so we have to be careful about how we stack the boxes to make sure there is enough room for people to walk. We get a lot of dust from the Kodaikkanal Road, so cleaning the windows and the front counter is a never-ending job. The atmosphere is generally relaxed, and we know many of the drivers who pass by this way regularly. We keep the store open for long hours to make sure we are there when the travelers need us. It is a humble business that serves a practical purpose for the community and the people on the move. We don't use any high-tech systems; it's all about direct service and knowing what people are looking for.
