Our kindergarten is tucked away on the Jairani Campus near Seemas Junction in Thodupuzha. It’s a quiet enough spot, though the junction nearby can get busy with buses and cars. We spend our days with the smallest children, teaching them the basics like how to hold a pencil or sit still for a story. The weather in Idukki can be quite rainy, so we spend a lot of time indoors during the monsoon months. We have a few rooms set up with small chairs and tables that fit the kids just right. It’s a very local operation, and most people in this part of town have seen the children playing outside when the sun is out. We don’t do anything too fancy; it’s mostly about getting the kids comfortable with a school routine before they head off to the bigger primary schools. The staff here are mostly local women who have been with us for a while. We know most of the parents by name because they live just a few streets away. Sometimes the kids cry when they first arrive in the morning, but they usually settle down once they see their friends. It is a simple place with a lot of heart, and we just try to keep everything running smoothly day by day. We don't have a big marketing team, just a gate and a sign out front. Every day is different, but we stay focused on the kids.
