About Goodland Cards – Safety & Security in Idukki
In Kattappana, we have our small shop in the Kochukudivil Building. Goodland Cards has been my life for a while now. The building is sturdy enough. I like the view of the hills when I step outside for a break. We do cards for all sorts of things. Sometimes weddings, sometimes just business cards for the local shops. I have a big heavy cutter that makes a loud thud every time I use it. The floor is usually covered in paper scraps by the end of the day. I sweep it up before going home. Kattappana gets a lot of rain. When it pours, the sound on the roof is so loud we can't talk. I keep some plastic sheets handy to cover the stock. The Kochukudivil Building has other shops too, so it’s never lonely. I know the guy next door well. We watch each other's places. My hands get dry from handling all that paper. I keep a bottle of water under the counter. It’s a simple setup. Just a couple of printers and a computer that’s a bit slow. People come in with their own designs or ask me to make something quick. I don’t use any fancy software, just the basics. It’s enough to get the job done. I usually walk to work since I live close by. It’s a good walk in the morning. The air is fresh and cold here most days. It makes me feel awake before the work starts. Sometimes I stay late to finish a big batch.
