Cement House

We opened up Cement House here in Vadakkummury a while back because people in Thodupuzha needed a place to get their building stuff without driving too far. It is just a regular shop, nothing fancy to look at. We spend most of our days moving heavy bags around and making sure the stacks stay dry when it rains, which happens a lot around here. Usually, it's just one or two of us at the desk or out back in the storage area. If you come by, you might see some dust on the floor, but that is just part of the job when you deal with cement all day long. We know most of the guys who come in by their first names because they live just down the road or in the next village over. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck or comes a bit late because of the narrow roads, but we try to keep things moving as best as we can. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and loading, and my back definitely feels it by the time evening comes around. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small space to sit and talk about what you need for your house project. People stop by to ask prices or just to see what we have in stock for the week. It stays pretty busy on Monday mornings. We just do our work and go home.
