About Amalambika Convent English School – Education in Idukki
We are located right near the check post in Thekkady. It’s a beautiful area with a lot of trees and hills around us. The school building is quite plain, just a few blocks of classrooms near the main road. Because we are near the check post, there’s always a bit of traffic and tourists going toward the park. But inside the school, it’s mostly just the sound of kids and teachers. The weather here can be very wet, so the building often has that damp smell in the monsoon. We have simple wooden benches for the students. There’s a small area out front where we do the morning assembly. It’s not a fancy place with lots of equipment. We just have the basics. Most of the children come from the local area, and some travel a bit from the nearby villages. The teachers are mostly local people who have been with us for a long time. We know the names of the parents and the siblings. It’s a quiet life, really. We spend our days teaching English, math, and the other usual subjects. Sometimes we have to deal with power cuts or a bit of a mess from the rain, but we just get on with it. Amalambika Convent English School is a small school doing its work in a busy tourist town. We just focus on the day-to-day work of teaching our students.
