Malwabhoomi Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited is a bit of a mouthful, but we are just a group of farmers working together. Our main spot is right behind the New Bus Stand in Ichhawar. If you are near the Aara Machinenadan Road in Ganjibad, you are pretty much there. We focus on organic farming because that is what feels right for the soil around here. Most of our days are spent out in the fields or meeting up at the office to talk about the crops. Being near the bus stand makes it easy for members to drop by when they are coming into town. It is not a polished office; there is usually some dirt on the floor and plenty of tea being made. We handle everything from seeds to getting the harvest ready for sale. It is a collective effort, so everyone puts in some work. Ichhawar is a quiet place mostly, but we stay busy trying to make sure the organic methods are actually working. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us, but that is farming for you. We don't have any fancy marketing people. It's just us, the farmers, trying to get better prices for what we grow and keeping the chemicals out of our land. It’s a lot of manual labor and long meetings, but we’re proud of what we’re building together behind that bus stand.
