B-4 in IDA Gandhi Nagar is where we spend our whole day. It is right in the middle of the industrial area, so there are always big trucks moving around and the constant sound of machines in the background. We handle organic compounds and various materials that need careful mixing and monitoring. The building is a simple industrial shed with some small office rooms partitioned off at the front with plywood. It is not very glamorous, just a lot of concrete floors and metal drums stacked in the corners. We have a small crew that comes in every morning, mostly people who live nearby in the Gandhi Nagar area. The air around here often has a bit of a sharp smell, but you get used to it after working here for a week or two. We spend a lot of time checking the weights on the scales and making sure the labels are stuck on the bags correctly. Our desks are usually piled with clipboards and hand-written logs of what went into the mixers and what was sent out. We do not have a big corporate lobby or any soft chairs for visitors. If someone comes to visit, we usually just pull up a plastic chair in the main work room. It is a lot of routine work, watching the temperatures and making sure the bags are sealed up tight before they get loaded onto the lorries. It gets quite warm in the afternoons under the tin roof, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting finished before the sun gets too high.
