We’ve been running Vijayanand Roadlines Pvt Ltd out of this spot near the Flower Market in Osmangunj for a while now. If you've ever been down here, you know how it gets in the morning. The air smells like crushed petals and diesel from all the trucks trying to squeeze through the narrow gaps. Our office is at 5-2-200/A/43, and it’s basically just a room where we keep our logs and answer the phones. It’s usually pretty loud with the shouting from the market outside and the drivers coming in to get their papers signed. We mostly deal with getting things from one city to another, which sounds simple but there is always a hitch somewhere. A tire goes flat or someone gets stuck at a checkpoint. We just sit here behind our desks and try to keep track of it all. The walls are a bit dusty because of the road, but we don't mind it much. My desk is covered in old receipts and half-empty tea cups by the end of the day. It isn't anything fancy like those big corporate offices in the city center. We just do the work and go home when it’s finished. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit by the window to see what we are writing. It is just the way things go in this part of town. We’ve known the neighbors for years and it feels like a community.
