You can find our yard and office over at 125 A, Journalist Colony in Jubilee Hills. It’s a busy spot, especially when the trucks are coming in to load up. We deal with a lot of concrete work, so there is always a layer of grey dust on everything in the office. It isn't a place where you would want to wear a nice suit. Most of us just stick to old jeans and boots that can get dirty. We spend a lot of our time looking at mix ratios and checking on the piles of gravel and sand out back. The sun really beats down on the yard in the afternoon, so we try to get the heavy stuff done early in the day. We have a small crew that has been around for years. We know each other well enough to know who takes their coffee with too much sugar. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist. Usually, if the phone rings, whoever is closest to it just picks it up and tries to help out. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we first moved here, but we just keep doing what we do. It is physical work and it can be tiring, but there is something good about seeing a project actually get built. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay busy until it is time to lock up.
