House Of Crafts

It is quite a walk up to the 6th floor here at Byemaara Hyt in Shaniwar Peth, but once you get to the penthouse, the view of the city is actually pretty decent. We’ve been here for a while now, surrounded by all sorts of materials and tools. House Of Crafts isn't really a fancy boutique or anything like that. It’s more of a workspace where things get messy and stuff actually gets made. We started out just because we liked working with our hands and it kind of turned into this. The space is filled with bits of paper, wood, and paint that we’ve collected over the months. Some days it is quiet and we just focus on a single project, while other days it feels like a bit of a disaster zone with everything spread out on the tables. Shaniwar Peth is a busy area, so coming up here to the penthouse feels like a break from all the noise downstairs. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept, though even we lose a pair of scissors every now and then. It’s a practical place for people who actually want to make things. We spend a lot of time just figuring out how to get a specific look or fix a mistake on a piece we’re working on. It’s just how we spend our days up here.
