Begum Bazar is always crowded and noisy, and we've been right here in the middle of it at Sk Novelties for a long time now. People come in looking for all sorts of small items and gifts, and we just try to keep the shelves full. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with the narrow lanes and the constant flow of shoppers, but that's just how business works in this part of town. We spend most of our mornings unpacking boxes and making sure everything is where it should be. It isn't a fancy setup by any means. It's just a shop where we sell what people need. My brother and I usually handle the counter, and we know most of the regular faces who pass by every day. Some days are slower than others, especially when the weather isn't great, but there’s always something to do. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. Just this space in Begum Bazar where we keep our stock. We deal with various suppliers and try to get things that folks around here actually want to buy. If you walk down the main stretch, you'll see us there among all the other shops. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the little pieces, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the market. We just show up, open the shutters, and see who comes through the door. It's a simple life running a small business like this.
