Our place is tucked away at 3-4-365 in Tobacco Bazaar, right here in Secunderabad. If you know the bazaar, you know it is a maze of small shops and narrow lanes. We have been here for quite a while now, just running our chit fund the old-fashioned way. It is a small office, and we do not have much room for anything other than our desks and the filing cabinets. We focus on keeping the books straight and making sure everyone gets what they are owed when their turn comes up. It is a lot of manual entries and double-checking. We are not trying to be some massive financial institution. We are just local people helping other local people save and borrow in a way that makes sense for them. The street noise is constant, but you get used to it after a few years. We drink a lot of tea and spend our days talking to the people who come by to drop off their payments. Some days are slow, and other days everyone shows up at once and it gets a bit chaotic. We just take it as it comes. There is no fancy talk here. We just tell it like it is. If you are looking for us, look for the small sign near the corner. We are usually there until the sun goes down, just wrapping up the day’s work and getting ready for tomorrow. It is a lot of paper and ink.
