S A Poonawala Furniture is tucked away in the cellar of Karan Centre, specifically at unit number 19. If you are looking for us, we are right across from Hotel Karan on S D Road. Being in the basement means it stays a bit cooler during the hot afternoons, which is nice, but we do have to rely on the indoor lights quite a bit. It’s a compact space and we have packed it with as many furniture pieces as we can fit without making it impossible to walk around. We’ve been here for quite some time now, and we’ve seen the street outside change a lot over the years. We deal with everything from small stools to bigger wardrobes, though moving the big stuff up and down the stairs can be a real workout for us. It’s a family-run kind of place where we know where every single screw and hinge is kept. We don’t do much in the way of advertising because people just see our sign when they are heading to the hotel or walking down S D Road. It can get a bit cramped when a few customers come in at once, but we make it work. Most of the furniture is ready to go, though sometimes we have to pull things out of the back corners if someone wants a specific color or style we haven't dusted off lately.
