Rafiq Hasan Clinic

Down in Mehdipatnam, things are always moving fast, and the clinic is right in the middle of it. Dr. Rafiq Hasan has been seeing people here for a while now. The space isn’t huge, but it fits what we need. When you walk in, there’s a small desk where the registration happens. The register is getting a bit old and the corners of the pages are curled up. There’s usually a queue because Mehdipatnam is such a hub for everyone. People come in with all sorts of small problems, coughs, or just needing a checkup. The walls have a few old calendars hanging up. Sometimes we forget to flip the pages until halfway through the month. The chairs in the waiting area are mostly plastic, the kind that are easy to wipe down. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are always on full speed, whirring away. You can hear the buses and the street vendors outside if the door is left open for too long. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, it can get a bit chaotic with everyone talking at once. We don't have any fancy computerized calling systems; we just call out the names when it's their turn. It's a simple setup, really. We just show up, open the shutters, and start the day’s work until the last patient is seen and the lights go off.
