Working at Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited over here at Sa19 is a bit different from the bigger sites. It’s a smaller spot, but we stay busy enough to keep everyone on their toes. The address is short, which makes it easy for the delivery drivers, though some of them still manage to get lost because they expect a longer street name. We spend most of our time staring at blueprints and talking to the guys out on the field over the radio. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear everything going on in the next room, mostly just people arguing about where the gravel went or who used the last of the ink. We don’t have any of those fancy coffee machines, just a kettle that takes forever to boil. It gets the job done though. Every day there is a new stack of papers to sign and a new problem to solve with the equipment. Sometimes the machines break down right when we need them most, and that’s a whole afternoon gone. We just try to keep things organized as much as we can. It’s a lot of work, and the office isn’t the prettiest place to look at, but we are here every day. We know the neighbors and they know us. It’s just a regular part of the day, coming in, doing the work, and heading home. No big speeches or fancy posters, just a calendar and some old photos of past projects.
