Sri Balaji Paints

Sri Balaji Paints is over on Mumbai Road in the Moosapet area at No. 12-5-119/5. The road outside is always loud with trucks and cars going by, which means a lot of dust comes in through the front. We spend a good chunk of the morning just dusting off the lids of the paint cans so people can see the labels. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack the buckets pretty high up towards the ceiling. It smells like chemicals and thinners in here most of the time, but you stop noticing it after an hour or two. There is an old color mixing machine in the back that makes a loud vibrating noise whenever we use it. We keep a few worn-out chairs for people to sit on while they wait for their paint to be ready. Sometimes the light in the back flickers, but we haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. Most of the customers are just local guys from the neighborhood working on houses nearby. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and a pen that's usually running out of ink. It’s a simple setup and we don't have any fancy displays. On rainy days, the water drips a bit near the shutter, so we have to move the stock. It is just a regular place where we show up, mix some colors, and talk to the regulars who stop by.
