Laxminarayan Sitaram & Co. is located right at 15-5-55 in Afzal Gunj. If you’ve ever been through this part of the city, you know how the traffic is. It’s a constant stream of autos, rickshaws, and people carrying goods. Our building has been standing here for a long time, and you can see the age in the walls and the heavy wooden doors. We don’t have air conditioning throughout the whole place, so we keep the windows open and hope for a breeze. Inside, it’s mostly shelves piled high and old ledgers. We do things the old-fashioned way for the most part. There’s a lot of sitting on the floor or on low stools while we talk to customers who have been coming to us for decades. We know their fathers and their grandfathers. It’s not a fast-paced environment where everything is digital and instant. Sometimes things take a bit longer because we like to be careful. The tea stall around the corner delivers to us twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break. We handle a variety of goods and supplies, and the inventory changes depending on the season. We don’t bother with fancy branding or slogans. People know where we are and they know what we do. It’s a bit dusty and the aisles are narrow, but we know exactly where every single item is kept and what it costs.
