Sl Engineering Works

Out here at Plot No. 132 in the industrial area of Kamothe, it’s always pretty loud. We’ve got Sl Engineering Works set up in Sector 35, and if you’ve ever been to this part of Prashanth Nagar or Kukatpally, you know it’s mostly just warehouses and workshops. Our place is full of metal scraps and heavy machines that have seen better days, but they still get the job done. We spend the whole day covered in grease or iron filings. It’s not a clean job, but someone has to do it. The heat inside the shed gets a bit much during April and May, but we just keep the fans running and drink a lot of tea. We handle a lot of small parts and repairs that people bring in. Sometimes a truck will pull up with something broken that needs welding or turning on the lathe. We don't have a big office or anything, just a desk in the corner covered in papers and old tools. Most of the guys working here have been doing this for years, so we don't need to talk much to know what needs fixing. The traffic around the industrial estate can be a nightmare in the evenings when everyone is trying to leave at once. We usually stay a bit late to let the trucks clear out. It’s just honest work, nothing more to it.
