We have been based at Plot No 800 801 in Phase V for a good while now. It gets pretty noisy here once the machines start running in the morning. Most days it is just our small crew figuring out how to get things to fit right or fixing some part that has started acting up. Being an engineer in this kind of shop isn't always about drawing fancy diagrams on a screen. It is mostly about getting your hands greasy and making sure the metal behaves like it should. Our workshop isn't the cleanest place you will ever see, but it is where the real work happens. We have a handful of guys who really know their way around a lathe and a welding torch. Sometimes the power goes out here in Phase V, which can be a real pain for the schedule, but we just wait it out and get back to it. We don't spend much time sitting at a computer unless we absolutely have to. Most of what we do here at Lifton Engineers is for other local businesses nearby. We have watched the area change quite a bit over the years. Some new sheds went up next door just recently. It stays very hot in the summer under this tin roof, so we keep the big fans going all day. People occasionally stop by to ask if we can weld a gate or fix a broken bracket. Usually, we can help them out. We don't have a big office or a receptionist. If you come by Plot No 800 801, you will probably find us near the back.
