We are over at Ploy No/56 in Phase III. The name on the gate says Kaalmanns Plastics Pvt. Ltd., though most people just call us Kaalmanns. Working with plastics means there is always a particular smell in the air around the factory. It’s a busy part of the industrial zone. We’ve got the injection molding machines and the extruders running most of the time. It gets pretty hot inside during the afternoon, so we keep the big fans going. Our office is just a small room partitioned off from the main floor so we can hear ourselves think. We handle the orders and the shipping from there. It’s not a very pretty place, honestly. There are stacks of crates and bags of resin everywhere you look. We try to keep the inventory straight, but it’s a constant battle. The staff here knows their way around the molds and the settings. We’ve had the same people working the shifts for a long time. We don't do much in the way of fancy presentations. If someone wants to see what we do, they just come down to the floor and look. It’s a straightforward operation. We deal with the daily headaches of broken parts and shipping delays like everyone else. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy. Most of the time, we are just covered in dust and grease by the end of the shift.
