Acme Toolings

You’ll find Acme Toolings at D-67 in Phase-1 of the IDA. It’s a typical industrial setting, nothing fancy or pretty about it. We work with metal and tools every single day. The floor is usually a bit oily and there’s always a fine layer of dust on everything, but that’s just how a machine shop is. We spend our time at the lathes and milling machines, making parts that other people need for their own businesses. It’s loud and it’s hard on the hands, but we’ve been doing it for a long time. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write glossy brochures. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in our work clothes, maybe with a bit of grease on our faces. We don't see the point in being formal. We just care about whether the measurements are right. If a part is off by even a little bit, it’s no good, so we spend a lot of time checking our work with calipers. The neighborhood is full of other shops doing similar work, so there’s a lot of banging and clanging all day long. We like it here because it’s where things actually get made. We don't have a big corporate structure; it’s just a few of us who know how to handle the machinery. We take our work seriously, but we’re just regular people trying to make a living.
