We operate out of Amberpet, specifically at house number 2-3-35/K/3 in the Manne Sathi Reddy Enclave. It’s a residential area, so it’s usually pretty calm around Shankar Nagar until the school bell rings nearby. Our place always smells like sandalwood or jasmine, depending on what we are making that day. The scent hangs in the air and follows you home on your clothes. We have tables set up where the sticks are hand-rolled and laid out to dry. It takes a lot of patience and the rooms are often filled with the sound of the ceiling fans whirling overhead. We aren't a big factory with machines; it's mostly manual work done by a small group of us sitting together. The floors are usually covered in a fine dust from the powders we use. Sometimes we have to move everything inside if the weather looks like it might rain, which is a bit of a scramble. We’ve lived and worked in this enclave for quite some time, so all the neighbors know what we’re doing by the smell alone. The boxes are stacked in the front room ready to be sent out. We don’t have a fancy storefront or anything like that. It’s just a house where we spend our days working with our hands. It’s quiet, steady work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Even when things get hectic with big orders, we just keep rolling until the job is done.
