Hakim & Company

Hakim & Company is sitting right on the corner of Pathergatti Road in the Mandimiralam area. Being on a corner means there is always a lot of movement and people poking their heads in to ask questions. The building is old, like many others around here, and it has that specific feel of a place that has been through many seasons. We don't have a big sign or bright lights, just our name and the work we do every day. The street outside is usually packed with rickshaws and vendors, so the noise is constant from morning until the shops start closing up at night. Inside, things are a bit more organized, but it’s still a working space with stuff piled up where it fits. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because that isn't what we are about. We are here to handle our business and talk to our customers face-to-face. Sometimes the tea seller comes by and we take a break on the front step, watching the crowd go by. It’s a lively neighborhood, and being at the corner makes us feel like we are right in the middle of everything. We’ve grown used to the dust and the heat of the afternoon. It is just a regular shop where we do our best to stay on top of the orders and keep things moving. There is always someone coming in for a chat or an order, and we like it that way.
