Our lab is situated over in the Kukatpally industrial area, specifically Gandhinagar. Being at F-7 in the I. D. A. means we are surrounded by all sorts of factories and workshops. Hyderabad gets really hot, so we spend a lot of time making sure the cooling systems are actually doing their job. It’s a lot of technical work, dealing with different compounds and testing things out day after day. It isn't exactly glamorous. You’ll see people in white coats moving around, checking gauges and writing down numbers on clipboards. We have a lot of glass jars and specialized equipment that requires a soft touch. The road outside can be a bit of a mess with the construction that always seems to be happening in this part of the city. We’ve been at this for a while, so we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the place. It’s not about having a fancy lobby; it’s about making sure the data is right. We have lunch together in a small break room when things aren’t too busy. Most of the staff live nearby, so we all know the shortcuts to avoid the worst of the traffic. It’s a practical environment where we just focus on the science and try to keep things running without too much drama. Some days are long, especially when a test takes more time than we thought it would. We just keep our heads down and finish the work.
