Down in Ballia, specifically in the village of Anjorpur, you’ll find our branch of Gammon India Limited. It’s a quiet part of Uttar Pradesh where things move a bit slower. Most of us who work here are from the local area. The office is just a regular building that fits right into the village. We don’t have big signs or flashing lights outside. It’s just a place where we keep our records and meet with the site workers to talk about the day’s plan. It can get incredibly hot during the summer months, so we keep the fans going and drink plenty of water. The work is mostly about managing the people and the materials for our projects. We don’t use a lot of fancy software. We mostly stick to the methods we know work. We get our supplies from the market nearby and keep things humble. There’s no point in acting like we’re in a skyscraper in a big city when we’re here in Anjorpur. Most of us have lived in this district our whole lives, so we understand how things work here. When a project is active, the office gets very busy. Otherwise, it’s just us and our files. We try to be helpful if people stop by. It’s just a normal day of work for us, nothing more than that. We focus on the task and try to stay as organized as possible given the heat.
