Dhanalaxmi Bags is located right at H. No-2-35 in the Koyyalagudem area of Choutoppal. It’s a small operation, honestly. We mostly deal with the sewing machines and the stacks of fabric that seem to take over every corner of the room. If you come by, you’ll hear the rhythmic clicking of the needles and maybe a radio playing softly in the back. Koyyalagudem is a place where everyone kind of knows what everyone else is doing, and we’ve been part of that for a while now. The building isn’t much to look at, just a plain front with a door that sticks a little when it rains. We spend a lot of time cutting patterns and trying to keep the thread from tangling up. Choutoppal gets quite busy during market days, and we feel that energy even inside. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to pause everything, which gives us a chance to sit outside on the steps and watch the carts go by. We aren't trying to be some big factory or anything like that. It’s just a local business where we try to get the work done before the sun goes down. The floor is usually covered in little scraps of colorful material by five o'clock. We sweep it up, lock the door at H. No-2-35, and head home just like everyone else around here. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do.
