Channel 9 Gifts & Novelties is tucked away in Shop No 9 at the Hiline Complex. If you know Road No 12 in Banjara Hills, you probably know how the traffic gets around here. We open up the shutters every morning and start dusting the shelves. There is a lot of stuff packed into this space. We have those little trinkets that people buy when they forget a birthday until the last minute. Some of the boxes have been sitting in the back for a while, but that’s how it goes in a gift shop. It isn't a massive showroom or anything fancy. Just a local spot where the floor is a bit scuffed from people walking in and out. We spend a lot of time just organizing the cards and making sure the batteries in the toys haven't leaked. Sometimes it gets quiet in the afternoons when the sun is hitting the front glass hard. Then the evening rush starts and it's a different story. We know most of the people who work in the nearby offices. They drop in for a pen or a quick gift. It’s a bit cramped when more than five people are inside at once, but we manage. We don’t have a big corporate team, just us here trying to keep things tidy and helping people find what they need among the shelves. It is a simple life at the shop.
