Bidri Crafts

We are located in Abids, right at Gunfoundry, across the road from the State Bank of Hyderabad. It’s a busy spot with lots of traffic passing by all day. Our shop, Bidri Crafts, is where we keep the items we make. Most people around here know us for the black metalwork with silver wire. It’s a messy job sometimes because the soil we use comes from old forts, and it has to be just right to get that dark finish. We spend most of our mornings cleaning the glass cases and dusting the pieces. It’s hard to keep everything shining with the city dust coming in through the door. Sometimes people stop in just to look at the patterns, and that is fine. We have been in this part of the city for a while now. The work takes a lot of patience, especially when you are sitting under a small bulb trying to hammer the thin silver into the grooves. It’s not a fast process at all. We just sit here and do the work as it comes. Often, we are drinking tea and talking to the neighbors while we wait for customers. The shop isn't very big, but it holds everything we need. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. It's just a regular place where we sell the things we create by hand. If you walk past the bank, you will see our sign. We've been here for many years.
