Bhadohi Rugs

We deal with rugs here in Hyderabad, under the name Bhadohi Rugs. We do not have a massive storefront in a mall; it is more of a warehouse feel where we keep the stock. The air always smells a bit like wool and dyes. We spend a lot of our hours unrolling heavy carpets for people to see the patterns. It is hard work on the back, but seeing the colors in the sunlight is nice. Most of our rugs come from back home, and we have been bringing them to Hyderabad for quite a while now. We do not really do much advertising. People usually find us because a friend told them we have a good variety sitting in the back. Sometimes the pile of rugs gets so high it is hard to walk through the aisles. We do not bother much with fancy displays. If you want to see something, we just pull it out and lay it on the floor. It is a bit dusty, and the lighting is not always perfect, but you get to see the real thing. We talk to people about the knots and the weave, mostly just sharing what we know from years of handling them. It is a quiet business, really. We just sit among the stacks, drink our chai, and wait for the next person who appreciates a good piece of floor covering.
