National Electric Works

National Electric Works has been operating out of Begumbazar for quite some time now. Our shop is at 15-7-577 in Hyderabad-12. If you know Begumbazar, you know it is one of the most crowded and oldest markets around. There is always someone shouting, a scooter honking, or a cart being pushed past the door. Our shop is filled with all sorts of electrical parts and equipment. It’s not very organized to look at, but we know where every single screw and wire is kept. We spend most of our hours repairing things or selling parts to people who come in from all over the city. The ceiling fan hums all day, and there’s usually a stack of old ledgers on the counter. We don’t go for any of those modern marketing tricks. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. It is a lot of hands-on work. Sometimes our hands are greasy or dusty from handling old motors and switches. The street outside is narrow, so deliveries can be a bit of a headache. But that is just part of living and working in Hyderabad-12. We take our tea breaks when the crowd thins out a little. It is a honest living, and we have been doing it the same way for years. 15-7-577 is just a small spot in a huge market, but it’s our spot. We don't need much more than our tools and a steady flow of work.
