Anand Architects

Anand Architects is located in the Skandagiri area of Padmarao Nagar. We’ve been in Secunderabad for quite a while now. The office is basically where we spend most of our lives, surrounded by sketches and measuring tapes. Architecture is a lot of back-and-forth. You draw something, it doesn't quite work, so you draw it again until it fits. We don’t have a flashy showroom or a fancy reception. It’s just a practical space where we can focus on the technical side of building things. We see a lot of people from the neighborhood who are looking to add a room or start a small house from scratch. We try to help them understand what’s possible on their plot of land. Padmarao Nagar is a good spot, it’s got a bit of history to it. Sometimes we’re out measuring old walls and other times we’re looking at empty ground that’s overgrown with weeds. It’s a mix of different tasks every week. We aren't a big firm with hundreds of employees. It’s a small group of us who actually like the process of figuring out where the doors and windows should go. We don't talk about art much; we talk about bricks and concrete and how to make the roof stay on without costing a fortune. It’s just honest work that needs doing. We’ve been at it for years and haven't found a reason to change how we operate.
