Amma Eye Hospital

If you’re heading down Vanasthalipuram Road towards L B Nagar, you’ll probably pass by us. We are situated right near the Chintalkunta Checkpost, which is a busy area with a lot of noise and cars. Our hospital focuses on eyes, so we have a lot of those machines for testing vision and looking at lenses. The front window gets a bit dusty because of all the traffic outside, so we have to wipe it down more than we’d like. Inside, it’s a bit quieter than the street. We have rows of frames on the walls for people to try on. Some people take forever to pick a pair, and we just let them take their time. There’s no rush here. We have a few small rooms in the back where the actual exams happen. The floor is that old-fashioned tile that’s easy to mop. We spend a lot of our morning sorting through files and making sure the appointments are lined up. Sometimes the coffee machine breaks down, and that makes for a long afternoon, but we manage. People come in from all over this part of Vanasthalipuram. We know the local bus drivers and the shopkeepers nearby. It’s a practical place, really. We don't have any big flashy signs, just the name on the door and our equipment inside. We just show up, do the eye checks, and help people see a bit better before they head back out.
