A. P Cane Works

A. P Cane Works is a small shop located at 19/2/29/A/118 in Model Town Colony. If you walk by, you will likely see a lot of raw cane stalks leaning against the walls or some half-finished chairs sitting out. It is a very manual kind of job. We spend most of the day bending, weaving, and tying the cane into different shapes. The air usually smells like dried grass and wood finish. Our workspace is pretty crowded because cane takes up a lot of room, and we have various tools scattered around the benches. We are not a big factory with assembly lines; it is just a few of us working with our hands. Sometimes our fingers get a bit sore from the weaving, but that is part of the trade. Model Town Colony is a fairly quiet neighborhood, so we try not to make too much noise late in the evening. People from around the area know where we are if they need a repair or something new for their home. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just focus on the piece of furniture in front of us. It takes patience to get the weave right, and we don't like to rush it. It is a traditional way of making things, and we just keep doing it the way we were taught years ago. It is simple, honest work that keeps us busy and out of trouble.
