South Central Railway

This is where V. Madhusudhan Rao and the rest of us work out of in Hyderabad. The office is at Zamisthanpur in Musheerabad, specifically at house number 1-7-507/33. It’s a busy part of town and we’re tucked away in a spot that’s been our base for a long time. Working with the railway means there is always something happening. It’s a lot of logistics, looking at schedules, and dealing with various departments. Our space isn't fancy at all. It’s full of old files, desks, and probably too many pens. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sitting in meetings that probably go on a bit too long. It’s a government-related atmosphere, so things move at their own pace. We aren't trying to be the most modern office in India; we just want to make sure the work gets done properly. Hyderabad is a hot city, so we’re usually grateful for the fans overhead. Most of us have been in this line of work for years, so we know the routines by heart. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we take it one day at a time. The building is just a regular spot in Musheerabad. People come by with queries or paperwork, and we do our best to help them out without making things too complicated. It’s just a normal workplace with normal people trying to keep things moving on the tracks. We’ve seen many changes over the years but the work remains.
