This branch of Shriram Chits Pvt Ltd is run out of Pedakurapadu in the Guntur district. N. Sridhar is the one in charge here, and his father Nageswara Rao is well known in these parts too. We are just local people working in a place we have known all our lives. Guntur is a place where people value their hard-earned money, so we take our work seriously. We spend most days meeting with neighbors and farmers who want to save a bit every month. It is a lot of paperwork and tracking who has paid what. We do not have a big fancy office building. It is more of a practical space where we can sit down and talk. Sometimes people come by just to ask questions about how the chit system works. We explain it simply, without using big financial words that nobody understands anyway. It is hot here in the summer, but we keep the fans going and keep working.
