Our office is a house in Hyderabad, which makes it feel a bit more relaxed than those big glass buildings downtown. Sathyavani Projects&Consultants is mostly just us sitting around tables with laptops and a lot of printed drawings. Hyderabad is a big city and getting across town for site visits can take forever, so we spend a lot of time in the car navigating the traffic and the flyovers. We deal with the planning and consulting side of things, so there is always some calculation to double-check or a government form that needs filling out. It’s a lot of technical work, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Some days it is quiet, and other days the phones won't stop ringing because someone on a site has a question about a structural beam or a pipe layout. We don't have a big sign out front or a fancy lobby with a receptionist. We just have our work and a few pots of tea that someone usually forgets to finish. Most of the staff have been living in Hyderabad their whole lives, so we know the local ground conditions and the way things get built around here. It is practical work. We look at the land, we look at the requirements, and we try to give advice that actually works for the people who are out there doing the actual building. It's just a regular day-to-day operation for us.
