Receptionist

I spend my days sitting at the front desk here in the Yousufguda area of Hyderabad. The office is located at 8-3-231/A/41-42 right in Krishnahagar. It is a very active part of the city and there is always some kind of noise or movement happening just outside the front window. My daily routine mostly involves answering the telephone and telling people which way they need to go when they walk in. I have been working as a receptionist here for a while now and I have come to know most of the people who come by regularly. It is not a very complicated job, but it keeps me occupied and I genuinely like chatting with the different folks who visit us. Sometimes the traffic outside gets very loud, but you eventually stop noticing it after you have been here a few weeks. Hyderabad is such a massive city, but Yousufguda feels like a small neighborhood once you get to know the locals. I try to keep my desk organized, although papers and files always seem to gather in piles by the time the afternoon rolls around. People often stop by to ask for directions or to find out who is in charge of things. I just do my best to point them in the right direction. I do not use any fancy computer systems, just my handwritten notebook and the standard landline. Most days I bring my own lunch and eat it while watching the street.
