Our place is at Quarter No. A-199 in Vanasthalipuram, specifically in the Hill Colony area of Rangareddy district, near Hyderabad. It is a bit of a distance from the main city center, which is actually quite nice because it is quieter here. I work for LIC of India and operate mostly out of this quarter. The neighborhood is full of families, and since I am right here in the colony, people often drop by in the evenings to discuss their policies or hand over documents. It is a very casual setup. I have a small corner with a table and a cupboard where I keep all the registers. Living and working in Hill Colony means I know almost everyone on the street. My work involves a lot of manual checking of dates and amounts. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so I just take a break until it comes back. It is not like those big glass offices you see in Hi-Tech City. It is a practical, local way of working. I take the bus into Hyderabad when I need to submit things at the head office. The rest of the time, I am right here in Vanasthalipuram, keeping things moving for the people in this area. It is a simple life and the work keeps me busy enough without being too stressful.
