Granitemartindustries is based right in the middle of Ameerpet. If you know Hyderabad, you know how packed Ameerpet gets with all the students and shops. We are part of that busy mess every day. Our space is usually dusty because of the nature of the industry. We deal with granite and various stone products. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving slabs around. We don't have a big corporate lobby. It’s mostly just the warehouse and a small desk where we handle the bills. The noise from the street is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. We started out small and stayed that way, just focusing on the local orders that come through. Every morning starts with checking what arrived on the trucks. Sometimes the pieces aren't exactly what we expected, so we have to sort through them. It’s hard work on the back. We have a few regulars who have been buying from us for years. They know where to find us among all the coaching centers and hostels. We don’t do much advertising. People just find us by word of mouth or by walking past. The summer heat in the warehouse can be brutal, but we keep the fans going. It’s a straightforward business. We just sell the stone and try to get home before the evening traffic peaks. There are always piles of offcuts in the corner and a heavy smell of wet stone. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors because the granite dust gets everywhere. It’s just how it is here.
