Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd

Working at Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd on Mukherjee Lane is quite an experience. We are located at number 2, right near Belur Math in Howrah. This area has a very specific feel to it because of the river and the temple nearby. The lane is narrow, like most of the old streets in this part of West Bengal. Our office is in an old building that has been here for a long time. The walls are thick and the windows are small, which helps keep the humidity out a little bit. Inside, it’s a very simple setup. We have wooden desks and old-fashioned fans that rattle a bit while they spin. There is no corporate gloss here. It’s just a lot of ledgers, pens, and the smell of old paper. We hear the bells from the temple sometimes, and it reminds us where we are. The team is small, and we’ve all been working together for years. We know each other’s families and what everyone is having for lunch. Most of us walk to work or take a rickshaw from the station. We don't have any big signs or fancy branding on the door. It’s just a place where we come to do our daily tasks. It’s quiet, steady, and very local. We handle the paperwork, talk to the locals, and then head home when the sun goes down over the Hooghly river. It is just how life goes.
